We are happy to see the Olympics come to an end today. For the last two weeks Eaton's sleep schedule and the Olympics have been a bad combination for his parents. Eaton tends to have his longest stretch of sleep from about 8pm to midnight. Despite this, Carlyn and I have been staying up till about midnight almost every night to watch the Olympics. So as we are falling asleep, Eaton is waking up. Just like with everything else, he always wins!

Bath Time
Eaton LOVES his baths - and gets mad when he's taken out of the water. A few times he has plotted to make his bath longer by pooping while in the bath. It's a quite unpleasant experience for his mom who tries as fast as she can to get him out of the tub to rinse it out - then get him back in before he gets too cold and starts crying. And - anyone who has dealt with newborn poop knows - it is not as easy as scooping something out of the water. It's kind of like dumping a bowl of rice krispies into a tub of water and trying to get all the cereal and milk out. We're planning on splashing around with him in the pool at the condos where we're staying in San Diego - with a swim diaper, as people probably wouldn't appreciate him pooping in the pool.

Beating the Heat
More than a couple people have recently hinted that it's been awhile since our last post, so sorry for the delay.
The weather has been hot and Eaton has been a little hot and cranky. Cool baths seem to do the trick to cool him down (and quiet him down). So he has gotten a lot of baths over the last couple days. He doesn't always smile on command; but we do get him to smile, mostly in the morning. Seeing him smile is pretty special and makes all the sleep deprivation and crying more than worthwhile. He's still getting stronger and can hold his head up for long stretches of time, although it is a bit wobbly. His legs are also getting pretty strong. He can support his weight while standing with a little assistance for balance of course.
Not much new with us. We are getting excited about going to San Diego, we leave in less than 4 weeks! We have just been trying to get all the things done around the house that we need to do before we leave.

It's a Smile!

He's still smaller than this Salmon

It's hot!

Yeah More Videos
Hey, Poop'n is Hard Work!!!
(turn up your volume)
Eaton didn't cry for his first ~24hrs of life. Numerous people that visited us at the hospital expressed a little concern about this. Well for all of you that were worried the video below is proof that he has figured it out.

Eaton's Routine
Eaton likes to start off the day with a little Exercise.
1st with Wii Fit. Wii Fit says his BMI is "normal". His Dad sure can't say that - stupid BMI.
Then a little holding his head up workout with Dad.
After his work out he usually needs a bath.
He really likes his baths
We really like his "bath pictures" especially when they're goofy.
He also like being held pretty much all the time.
If you set him down this is what happens!
Then it's bed time.
Add in about a dozen feedings and diaper changes along with a few naps and that pretty much Eaton's Life.
Since you can never get enough Eaton pics Click Here for a bunch more!

1 Month Old Today
Yesterday Eaton had many firsts. He had his 1st ferry ride, which went well. His 1st trip to Seattle, where he saw his Uncle Riley and Almost-Aunt Tarrah's new place. He went to his 1st Wedding - Congrats to Bryan and Beth. He also cried through his first wedding - Sorry Bryan and Beth. He had his 1st "bad night" where he cried/screamed almost non-stop from 4:30am-10:30am. Luckily his parents didn't have anything better to do in the middle of the night than listen to him scream! He is doing better today, so we are hoping last night was an anomaly and not a trend.
He is a month old today and "unofficially" weights a little over 12 lbs and is 23.5 inches tall. I have to say "unofficial" because his weight is from our bathroom scale not the doctor. Carlyn is convinced our scale is heavy and he is not really 12 lbs. (even though the last time he was weighed at the Doctors our scale matched almost exactly.) He has out grown most of his newborn clothes, including newborn diapers. He is now meeting the challenge of filling his bigger diapers with surprising success.
Eaton met his Great Grandma and Grandpa Smith last week and has now met 3 out 4 sets of Great Grandparents. He has also met lots and lots or Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends and of course Grandparents, he is very lucky to have so many people that love him.
Below is a video of his "new trick". It's actually about a week old, I'm just slow at getting it posted.
